XXI საუკუნე გამოირჩევა მძლავრი ტექნოლოგიური განვითარებით, სადაც ყოველდღიურად ვითარდება ბლოკჩეინტექნოლოგია და ამ ტექნოლოგიაზე შექმნილი ისეთი ინოვაციური პროდუქტი, როგორიც კრიპტოვალუტაა. ბოლო დაკვირვებების თანახმად, კრიპტოვალუტა განსაკუთრებით მიმზიდველია როგორც გამოცდილი, ისე ახალბედა ინვესტორებისთვის. მსოფლიოს მასშტაბით უამრავი ფიზიკური და იურიდიული პირი იყენებს კრიპტოვალუტას, როგორც გადახდის საშუალებას. კრიპტოვალუტით შესაძლებელია როგორც საქონლის, ისე მომსახურების შეძენა. ამდენად, დღის წესრიგში დადგა კრიპტოვალუტის სამართლებრივი მოწესრიგების აუცილებლობა.
ნაშრომის მიზანია, კრიპტოვალუტის სამართლებრივი სტატუსის დადგენა, კერძოდ, როგორია მისი სამართლებრივი ბუნება, შესაძლოა თუ არა კრიპტოგრაფიული ვალუტა მივიჩნიოთ კერძო სამართლის ობიექტად, როგორც ქონებრივი სიკეთე, როგორც ელექტრონული ფული, როგორც ვირტუალური ვალუტა, გააჩნია თუ არა მას უპირატესობები ტრადიციულ ვალუტასთან მიმართებით და რა უპირატესობებია ისინი. ყოველივე აღნიშნული კი განხილული იქნება ამერიკის შეერთებული შტატების, ავსტრალიის, არგენტინის, ბრაზილიის, გერმანიის, ზელანდიის, იაპონიის, სამხრეთ კორეის, ჩინეთის, საქართველოსა და ევროპის ცენტრალური ბანკის რეკომენდაციების საფუძველზე.
