ვალდებულებითი სამართლის ერთ-ერთ მნიშვნელოვან ინსტიტუტს წარმოადგენს ვალდებულების შეწყვეტა. შეწყვეტის შემდეგ ვალდებულება აღარ არსებობს. მის მონაწილეებს ერთმანეთთან აღარ აკავშირებთ უფლებები და მოვალეობები. ვალდებულების შეწყვეტაში იგულისხმება, რომ ვალდებულებითი ურთიერთობა ვიწრო ან/და ფართო გაგებით დასრულებულია და აღარ არსებობს.
ნაშრომში დოქტრინისა და სასამართლო პრაქტიკის ანალიზის საფუძველზე განხილულია დეპონირების, როგორც ვალდებულების შეწყვეტის ერთ-ერთ სამართლებრივ საფუძველთან დაკავშირებული, თეორიული და პრაქტიკული მნიშვნელობის მქონე ისეთი საკითხები, როგორიცაა დეპონირების საფუძველი, დეპონირების წესი, დეპონირებასთან დაკავშირებული ხარჯები და მათი ანაზღაურება, შესრულების საგნის შენახვის ვადა.
